Security and trust with Seagate by your side
“If you think about yourself as a consumer, everything you do is stored somewhere, whether it’s on a computer or a hard drive” Soifer started by saying. Last year, the company created more information stored in hard drives and in other media than they had created in the last few years. This means the market continues to grow and this information needs to be backed up. This is something Seagate works deeply on, educating consumers on saving all their information so they do not lose their data, pictures, videos, etc.
There are many trends developing such as the cloud, which is a complementary trend for hard drives, as Soifer detailed. This is a plus for Seagate because they deal with this data center that includes hardware and they use it to integrate information. Before, consumers depended solely on their PCs or laptops. Today there are many different ways to download and store information, whether it is on a mobile, tablet, smartphone, computer, game console. How is it all integrated? Seagate makes sure customers have access to this information no matter where they are and what device they are using. They wish to make it simpler for companies and consumers to store information.
NAS are products that the company offers to manage information that is stored from different computers. Seagate Central is a backup drive for Time Machine backups that allows users to share media with everyone or selected users. The content can be uploaded remotely, always protected for users’ everyday use. Another important trend for Latin America, as Soifer explained, is the surveillance market, as safety is a primary concern. “In the countries we work with there is a lot of theft and risk that can affect businesses. Creating a solution where you can monitor all your files and have videos safely stored, is another way of keeping the business area secure.”
Soifer finds it vital to offer customers various options, beyond the entry level. An important aspect of this is that their hard drives are the only ones that are integrated with social media. With the Backup Plus Slim Portable Drive, users can protect and store information anywhere and anytime.
Customers expressed that it is very difficult for them to back up information using their smartphones. This led Seagate to create the “Seagate Backup” application, which lets users select the kinds of files they wish to wirelessly back up, whether it is on the cloud, Google Drive, Dropbox or the hard drive.
Another product is the Seagate Wireless which was developed to cater to another need of customers, which is to have all their information with them. Password protected, this high end solution comes in 500GB, 1TB or 2TB. It integrates wirelessly with tablets and smartphones, is battery operated and creates its own Wi-Fi network.
As Soifer concluded, Seagate’s main goal with their security products is to protect consumers’ files and make their professional and personal lives easier, simpler and better.
