The predecessor was a hybrid between a Smartphone and a tablet, with a 5.3 inches display. However, Samsung decided doubled Note display size and turned it into a 10 inches tablet. This new tablet, which run Android Ice Cream Sandwich version, as its previous model, has an optical S Pen that can be used as a pencil for drawing or writing, or as a mouse.
“You do not need to use the S pen if you do not feel like, though it is the heart and soul of the team,” said Shoneel Kolhatkar, US Samsung Product Strategy Director. “You cannot trust if your finger is properly clicking the link. The S Pen allows accuracy and control,” he assured.
The new Tablet counts with a 10.1 inches display and 1200×800 resolution, greater than last version, which was 5.3 inches. Also, it is powerful than its predecessor due to the 1.4 GHz 4-core Exynos, 2 RAM GB, and microSD internal storage, expandable to 64 GB.
New Samsung Tablet has two cameras: 1.9 mpx frontal, and 5mpx rear. As Galaxy S III Smartphone of the South Korean company, it has SmartStay, All Share Play and Pop up Play functions; you can also watch videos while using other apps or other functions.
Galaxy Note 10.1 16GB model will appear in US at $500 and 32GB at $550. The US release is the beginning of the strategy against worldwide Apple iPad.
In the second semester, Apple gained almost 70% of tablets worldwide market, with more than 17 million sold iPads. Samsung, second in the market, is far behind with only 2.4 million sold tablets.
