Alcatel-Lucent

Alcatel-Lucent released its Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) earlier in the year, providing cloud service providers, web-scale operators and enterprises the ability to build strong and scalable networking infrastructures. The Nuage Networks VSP is built on Alcatel-Lucent’s mastery of IP networks and Software Defined Networking (SDN).  It is meant to simplify operations for quick service instantiation, allowing the user to rely on automated, policy based processes of network connectivity to bring services up.

VSP automates the datacenter network, creating secure “slices” for each customer, changing provisioning time from days to minutes. It also scales to support large datacenters with thousands of customers, each with a large number of users. This makes it suitable for public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud services delivered by large enterprises, web scale companies or telecom service providers. The VSP then delivers seamless network connectivity inside the datacenter, between datacenters as well as datacenter to Enterprise VPN connectivity.

“We believe SDNs will connect the cloud to data center to the branch office, SDNs will make the data center instantaneous and touchless”, said Manish Gulyani, Vice President of Products Marketing IP, Optics and Fixed Access at Alcatel-Lucent.
